Evangelical Theological Seminary of Prague (ETSP) was founded in 1990 by the Brethren Church as a theological school for the preparation of future preachers. Over time, other Czech evangelical and charismatic denominations began to use the services of the seminar. The seminar is now administered by the School Board, made up of representatives of the four main denominations.
The mission of the seminary is to prepare spiritually, professionally and practically for service in the Church and in society.
ETSP currently offers three study programs – theological, pastoral, and study of social work in full-time and part-time form of study. The seminar integrates theology and pastoral care in a unique way in the Czech environment. The pastoral focus is based on the values and approach of biblical counseling, which it appropriately combined with the latest findings in psychology.
Students come not only from all Czech evangelical churches, but also from abroad – in recent years, students from Slovakia, Russia, Belarus and Latvia have also studied with us.
The team of teachers consists of carefully selected people from practice, experts who not only teach their profession, but also practice it practically. This ensures both a high academic level of teaching and its practical focus.
The seminar works closely with four universities, where graduates can continue their master’s studies.
In addition to accredited study, the seminary also offers a number of specialized courses, such as “Music in the Church,” a year-long course for musicians, singers, and composers who lead worship in the church.
